Fitting furniture against skirting
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM
I have a very small box room that is just wide enough to take a small bed. However in the past when I place furniture next to skirting, it lifts up due to the gripper rod. What is the solution as bed has legs at each corner but will be directly against skirting board. Obviously, the issue is that it will rise the edge of each leg on gripper at both ends of the bed. How do I deal with this as worried legs will cause bed to snap. Can I arrange for gripper rod to be taken out around legs or can I double the gripper rods, ie 2 rows so legs sit totally on top of gripper?

In fact both your suggestions present viable answers. My preference would be to have cut extra griper or a piece of board or timber to fit where the legs fall so that it is the same level and insert that in between actual gripper before carpet stretched and fitted. If its already fitted it will have to be released and refitted once the pieces are inserted in the places required. Which ever basically its level the area under each leg ensuring securely fixed.

Dubble. The gipper rods. And then spray glue on top of the grippers and also to the back of the carpet and relay the carpet. With out any ripples. Thanks Trevor

If it was me, I would lift the grippers and just glue the carpet down. Less hassle and your bed will be on a level floor
