Panel heater plug

I am going to buy a panel heater (2000w), but it does not come with a plug, does it need to be hard-wired or can I just attach a normal plug myself and connect it to an existing socket?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you do as the other answer suggests with a Double Pole Switch spurred off of the ring ( if it is a ring) then you would be relying on the circuit breaker for overload protection. It’s usually 32 amp. This is a no-no. If it’s under 3 kw just stick a plug top on it.

Totally agree with Deacon. Don’t permanently add a 3kw load to ring. Plug top. Or new radial circuit

Hi
You can attach a 13 amp Plug, and plug directly into a switched socket as it is less that 3000w as you say.

Yes a 13 plug top is acceptable but at full power a 3000W heater will draw 13.04 amps, so that is on the limit running at full power, if the heater is more of a permanent fixture consider fitting a 20a double pole switch, spured from a 1 position on a ring circuit or adapt the ring circuit so the 20DP switch is part of that circuit.
Always use a contractor to carry out notifiable works,
