Which type of shower should I get

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.57 PM

We have a semidetached house with the boiler in the attic. It is a Valliance combo boiler (5 years old). We are building an extension on the ground floor with a second bathroom and wish to install a shower. We are trying to pick the correct shower system that will give us the maximum pressure especially when both showers (upstairs and the new extension are running at once). Should we buy an electric shower system or a power thermostatic system? I have read that you shouldn’t put a power shower in place with a combi boiler. Can anyone give us any advice?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If it’s only a combi boiler the electric shower should be mains fed. If you want more then one shower or tap running, I’d suggest new boiler with a cylinder.

If it is power you want then connecting to the mains water is best for pressure if you are not getting the pressure you like or expect then installing pumps will help push the pressure to what you would expect.

Combi boiler wont really run 2 showers at once.. Personally id upgrade to an unvented cylinder and system boiler. or a really good electric shower but hard to say without doing an incoming pressure and volume survey.

Definitely go for a system boiler with an unvented cylinder (if you have enough room and incoming pressure to the cylinder. )
