Damp patches on wall near bay window

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

Hello We are having problems with damp patches on the walls near the downstairs bay window. There is no sign of damage to the brickwork outside, and it isn't seeping from the window frames, it's further in. They have been getting bigger and the water is now slightly leaking down the inside wall on the worse patch.it's worse on the wall to the left of the window, but there are small patches on the right hand side too. I drew around the patches in pencil and they keep getting bigger. The largest is around 15 cm. Any advice on what could be causing it and how to fix would really be appreciated, it isn't letting me upload any photos unfortunately. Thank you Helen

You’ve got condensation dampness plain and simple. Ventilation is the only key to solving the issue. Consider installation of a PIV unit. We do travel often to carry out installations of the PIV units to cure condensation issues. Take a look at our website for more info. We undertake video surveys for those at longer distances. Feel free to contact Dovedale Dampcure Services Ltd.

If the water is running down either side of the window, there is almost certainly an issue with the sealing of the top of the window or the roof above. It may not be visible but if water is running down the walls on the inside of both sides of the window theres definitely and issue outside!
