Polymer paint on composite door frame

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

I had my house rendered with a smooth polymer cement/paint. The person who did it got polymer paint on my composite door frame. It had dried by the time I noticed it. I can't get it off and don't want to scrape it as this might ruin the frame. The new door now looks bad. Are there any ways I can get the paint off?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can try with Thinner but first check if Thinner nor remove original paint from door If the door colour is from manufacture it should work

by polymer you mean a silicon based paint,so you should not be scrubbing it with white spirits like so many have reccomended and instead should just use warm water and a rag because the paints infact a water bourne paint system.

Yes, you can paint a composite door, but the real question is whether you should. If you use the correct materials and make the right preparation it is possible to get a good finish, however due to the outer layer being plastic it can be prone to chipping or flaking if a poor job is done.

Try white spirit, double check with the door manufacturer that it won’t strip the original body work off. Or try a little bit in a small area before going to do the whole lot.
