Constant noise in new build bungalow
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.44 PM
Constant noise even when electric and water turned off. Worse at night and morning. Some times louder than others. Have had this problem for months it's very annoying. Also found that when the stop tap is turned off no residue water is left in pipes even . though the outside tap is at far end if property It is not a leak. Noise can still be heard when main stop turned off. It is pressure on pipes. Having looked on Web it is not water hammer which is an abrupt noise not a continuous noise ie the noise does not stop

Banging pipes sounds are most likely the results of a water hammer A.K.A. hydraulic shock.
A water hammer oocurs when a water tap or a valve quickly stop the flow of the water into the fixtures. The sudden stop means the moving water inside the pipe comes to an abrupt stop when it meet the closed valve, e.g. the toilet flush valve shut suddenly when the cistern tank filled up to the desired level of water. The noise that you hear reflects or echoed around the pipes makes louder and louder (especially during the night when it's quite you can hear it louder) when the pipes fittings became loose due to the sudden change of water flow.

I would suspect a water leak under the floor somewhere. If you have a water meter outside in the road, check to see if it is still turning even when there are no taps running or WC’s or tanks filling. If it is, it confirms a leak.

Definitely a small leak somewhere you can't see it. The water pressure is higher at night that's when it is leading
