Damp Proofing

Condensation on internal dorma walls

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

Hi, a couple of years ago I had a new flat roof fitted to my bedroom dorma also, a new window and the sides were replaced, i.e. the tiled sides were removed and replaced with pvc cladding. Now every winter or cold spell the base of the internal walls become wet but I have had roofers back on three occasions so I know nothing is leaking. Could condensation be building up on the inside of the cladding when cold and running down the inside of the cavity and, if yes, how can I fix it permanently? Thanks, Dave

It certainly sounds like condensation but even if it is dew leaking into the panel cavity, the solution is the same ; an internal flashing is required to make water leak out of the cavity . It’s probably going to be an awkward job but unavoidable.

The room will need some kind of ventilation with the old window being replaced the room will not have any air flow a trickle vent fitted to the new window should help . You shouldn’t be getting condensation on the inside of cladding if the cladding was installed the wrong way up water could build up and get in

condensation could be building up in the roof or in the sides if its insulated & not vented properly, unfortunately you cannot see what has been done without taking some of it apart. good luck Alex

When the dorma was referred and the outer cladding was done, the people that did it haven't put the tray under the tiles n cladding around the dorma. The same tray or led flashing, that gos around velux windows.just bigger as it's a dorma.as this will stop any run off from the internel clad going in to the cavities also any water coming off the roof will fall in to tray not your home hope this hopes.
