Gaps in brickwork in loft

Home is terraced 1930s and have some gaps in brickwork in the loft which able to see through into neighbours. Been told on previous valuation survey that this needs covering up with fire proof plasterboard, however can this just be re-pointed from the inside at some point before we put the house up for sale? The other option being fire proof expanding foam which I could undertake myself but unsure which is the better option?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, you need a `firewall` between yourself & nextdoor, prior to listing for sale, as recommended by the surveyor you mentioned.It is relatively inexpensive & is something most people could carry out theirselves, if fairly `handy`.Hope this helps, Chris M-W.

Hi as your house was built in the 30's it shouldn't need to conform to modern day regs so probably just needs repointing
