Installing shower tray after wall panels

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

Is it possible to install a shower tray after a wall panel has already been fitted from ceiling to floor? I have read lots of things saying if the tray is not installed first it will leak.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi mate, All should be well if you have the right tradesman to do the job. You may have the option of cutting the bottom of the boards (assuming they a uPVC boards) to the height of the shower tray and apply classi seal around the outside as well as a good layer of silicone (not the cheap silicone either) This should solve the problem. I would recommend redoing the silicone layer every 2 years to keep the seal tight (this can be done by yourself) Hope that helps. -Aidan

I have installed different brands of panels.I allways fit them as per manufacturer instructions l have never come across any that is installed before than the tray. Some of them have profile which go on top of the tray. Just check the installation instructions

Its a matter of measurements . Panels would mostly be installed on a non moving base , however sometimes the tray as failed and a skilled tradesman should be able to fit a tray from reverse by raising the tray under the lip of the panels a recess of 10mm minimum must gained when site sitting the tray , a good product will have adjustable legs and silicone . Check for movement by putting a weight in for 24 hours at the base , You should be ok 30 plus years knowledge .

Hi it's like anything if the water is obviously going downward the wall panel should be over the shower tray so the water runs down into your tray and not down behind your tray. It's not the end of the world a good quality silicon but you will need to keep an eye on it any signs of coming away in months ahead take silicon off and do it again. Or find the installation instructions on the internet if it been put in wrong call the fella back . If you done it yourself and the installation is wrong take it out and do it properly to be sure and give you peace of mind.
