Outdoor waste water/soil pipe attachment

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

The waste water pipe from our bathroom goes out and down the side of the house, through the flat garage roof and into the ground. Just before it goes into the roof it looks to fit into an old attachment/connection where when flushing the water in the bathroom, most of the water runs down the pipe but because of the attachment so splashes come out onto the garage roof and then down into a drainpipe used for rain water. Am I wandering if I should buy a plug or cap for this so all water continues to run down the waste pipe? I have photos and videos of it.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Whatever the situation, the pipe from the toilet should be completely watertight until it reaches the sewer below ground. If there is any escape you should call a plumber and get it fixed. There is no other remedy. Happy new year. Guy

I would have that completely replaced as no water should be leaking out from any connections on the soil stack

If it's a soil pipe, it should be watertight. But from what you described, it looks like you missing a soil vent pipe...? And you asking should you just cap it... Definitely not!!! Get a plumber...
