How to ensure our sliding kitchen door is ‘close-fitting’?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM
We’ve been asked to ensure that our glazed frame sliding kitchen door is ‘close-fitting’. If our sliding kitchen door is swinging and not in its central position or there’s gap when it’s closed: • can we adjust the guide rail/roller on the underside of the door or on the wall to stop it from swinging and keep it in its central position? • or seal any gaps between the door and frame with a ‘door seal’ to provide a close fit?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi
Yes you can adjust the bottom guide which then should stop it swinging out..
Regarding the close fit, no sliding door is really close fit but you could put a side pelmet on the side of the door to make it a closer fit..
Hope this helps..

I expect one is talking about bi/tri-folding sliding doors?!
They must be fitted exactly ----> millimetrically vertically parallel both ends.
I expect the doors have been fitted in a warped format (twisted)
If my assumption above be correct, then I assume the 5 point locking system does not align correctly.
Try pushing the handle up to engage locking system - if the key does not turn, then the whole system (frame) requires adjusting. Normally its miss-alignment of catch engagument which fails - along with the alingment of the 5 point security locking system.
I believe (guess) the doors have been fitted warped (twisted)
I also expect your doors have been finished to (plastered in to framework?!
Solution : Use a multi tool to remove a 10mm rip of plasterboard from internal finished verticals: access frame fittings and remove (concealed by cover caps).
One could drill new fixing anchors or inject existing with resin, allow to cure then re-drill.
These doors require a perfectly "looked after" STABILLA 6' LEVEL - BUBBLE PERFECTLY MANISCUCALLY CENTRALIZED!!! THEY CANNOT BE FITTED WITH A 4' LEVEL!!!
I hope my input helps you!
Kindest Regards,
