What’s a ‘sound, well-constructed and close-fitting conventional door’ in the kitchen?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM

We’ve been asked to replace our existing glazed frame sliding kitchen door with a ‘sound, well-constructed and close-fitting conventional door’. 1) Our existing glazed frame sliding kitchen door doesn’t close properly and there is a gap when it’s closed. Can we simply mend it to become a ‘sound, well-constructed and close-fitting conventional door by changing a new lock or fasten the sliding frame/door? 2) Or buy a new internal sliding door with a door sliding kit if the current sliding kit is not suitable? Will both ‘sliding door’-options be considered as a ‘sound, well-constructed and close-fitting conventional door’?

Before you buy a new one, show your exist door to specialist. Maybe the gap could be managed. Otherwise the new door need to be purchase.

the existing door could be made some how soundless if you put new thick seal. you can buy from double galzed shop like window ware etc or let someone come and visit the door to advise you further.

Sliding doors have adjustable top rollers so you can ensure a closed gap when offered up to the door stop . Mirrored sliding doors same type but adjustable from bottom

You probably have a fire risk. But you don't need a fire door. A badly fitting glazed door on the kitchen is a risk. But most houses do not need fire doors,
