What type of tradesman do I look for fixing my shed
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.03 PM
Who do I contact to fix my wooden shed in my garden, the roof has a hole in it and the wooden shed is damaged and deteriorating, I fear the shed will just collapse. Should I be looking for a HandyMan or a Carpenter or/and a joiner?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It would be best that you look for a time served joiner . By the sounds of it the structural integrity of the shed maybe affected . With a Gold Card Registered Aproved Aprenticeship Joiner you will get the best service . I would advice you strongly not to go near an amateur / handyman . Always ask for proof of training with whom you choose to do your work . People who hold red and blue CSCS cards are ( NOT ) tradesmen . They are classed as an experienced work person . Always ask . Too many rouges around .

You need a joiner for the timber part of the fix and perhaps a handyman for the felt. Failing that a roofer for the covering

The caragory falls under all three. But a handyman would be the first choice as a menial job for a trained carpenter. However to build a shed I would say carpenter or joiner. So in essence all three are suitable

Most joiners should be able to make new roof with felt and strengthen it overall

A joiner would be able to either re build a shed for you or strengthen the structure already there
