No power to cooker
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.02 PM
We were using the cooker yesterday evening and then a slight bang followed by a faint electrical burning smell, now no power to the cooker switch or combined plug socket. The cooker is mains powered no plug. I know basic electrical skills so checked the connections and replaced the cooker switch socket but still no joy. We have an old fashioned electrical system that has 3 main fuses - 2, 45 amp and 1, 15 amp and 4 others that use the old wire fuses. I have checked them all and appear fine, there are no rcd's or trip switches in the main electrical box. Finally I borrowed a test kit and it appears there is no power reaching the socket at all. All other power in the house is fine so was thinking there is a wiring problem to the cooker switch. I will need to get an electrician but wondering if any expert advice on the problem. Much appreciated
