How and where to add dishwasher to existing kitchen?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.44 PM

I'm hoping to add a full sized dishwasher to this kitchen but there's no obvious place to add it I had hoped to put it next to the sink, but the pipework in the cupboard leaves no room for a dishwasher there There would be plenty of space on the wall opposite the sink where the condensing boiler is, if I removed a cupboard. But I'm unsure if the dishwasher would need to be on the same side as the sink. Alternatively, I could move the cooker and use that space for the dishwasher but this would need rewiring somewhere. I'm not sure if this would be more or less disruptive. Where would you put a dishwasher in this kitchen and how big of a job does it seem? I'm asking here as I have zero plumbing and electrical knowledge (clearly) so I don't want to ask someone round for a quote and waste their time if its completely unfeasible

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I good plumber would be able to advise on the pipe work situation and maybe able to re-route it as this would be an ideal spot. It there is space available under the boiler (replacing that cupboard with and integrated dishwasher cupboard would work) then I’m sure that an extended waste pipe could be fitted and routed with existing pipe work from the boiler around to the sink waste or even have a dedicated waste through the wall to the same drain that is used for the rest. Without seeing it it’s hard to give good advise. It may be wise to add some images to your question here or invite a plumber to advise you in your home?

You can fit the dishwasher whereever you like. Bear in mind that if you fit a dishwasher where a kitchen base unit is fitted you need a integrated dishwasher because the base unit are 60cm wide but the inner dimensions are around 56cm so a freestanding dishwasher will not fit, unless you remove the unit completely. Obviously closer to any waste point is the better but not mandatory. Hope this helps.
