Kitchen Fitting

Best route for cooker hood ducting

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

We're having a new kitchen fitted and the hob and cooker hood are in a new location against the wall behind the garage. Fitter has already drilled the hole to go into the garage (we didn't want to have the ducting/boxing in the kitchen) I think there are 3 possible routes for the ducting to go: Route 1: a straight line across the double garage all the way to the side elevation of the garage (garage is 5.20 m wide) Route 2: turn 90 degrees upwards and go through the garage roof - height from the drilled hole to the roof 1.50m approximately (the only concern I have is: when we decide in the future to extend above the garage, the ducting will need to re-routed) Route 3: turn 90 degrees to the left and drill a hole into the utility and go out to the rear elevation of the house through the utility (utility is 1.60m wide) Interested to hear views, pros/cons and advice from others. Thanks in advance 👍

Route 1. No bends in it.

Insert an indoor filter or No.3 or bend in it

Providing the client is happy to see a high level boxing thru the utility then this route would be perfectly fine. Alternatively the use of the recirculation facility that most extracts have, with the use of carbon filters would do away with the need for ducting altogether.

You have to drill the core on the outside wall,or the hood will never extract properly,or don't fit it.
