Should DPM in a ground floor be placed above or below the insulation?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

I'm trying to understand the best position to have a Dpm in a ground floor, I've been told to always have the DPM placed on the warm side of the insulation ie above the insulation, but I've seen other solutions where the DPM seems to be below the insulation. Is either solution okay? whats the difference?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi the dpm should always be placed underneath to prevent any moisture coming through, but further to that now building regs want an extra sheet of dpm on top of insulation before pouring concrete. Hope this helps 🙂
