Can you put inuslated plasterboard over old plaster?

I've removed a load of old broken plaster back to brick and plan to replace it with kingspan. Can it go over areas of the wall which still have solid plaster on? There is an outside wall where the plaster is still sound which would probably benefit from having additional insulation, and i dont really want to have to hack it all off.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Cannot be done because the old one will damage the new one too.

Hi, it doesn't sound like it will cause any problems. You would need an air gap between the Kingspan and the wall, it would just need to be slightly narrower where the plaster remains. What I have done in my property is frame the wall and used L brackets to keep the timber off the brickwork. The gap is for airflow to reduce damp penetrating and to reduce the cold bridging through the points of contact. Hope that helps.
