What do I need to show on a door detail drawing?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.25 PM
I'm doing a door detail, what are some of the vital things that I need to make sure I've considered and therefore make sure that they are shown on the door detail?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi,
Could do with a little more info on your project as details can be added, but it depends who the drawing is for. Maker, Planning,Tender etc.
If you are drawing a General Arrangement for a workshop,
this is a build drawing this would be at a 1-1 scale, to allow the workshop to lay the drawing out full size.
If the drawing is for approval, then you may find a 1-10 scale with 1-1 detail boxes as a better layout.
As far as key info, I like to include:
Structural opening,
Overall Frame width/height/depth.
Door Width/Height/Depth.
Rebate sizes in the frame.
Panel to cut sizes.
Glass Size and specification i.e toughened, wire.
Intended Ironmongery is useful
Threshold detail
Intumescent sizes/groove detail
Fire rating 30/1hr etc
Hope that gives you some idea, but the list is not complete, as I mentioned it depends on the purpose of the drawing.
You may find it useful look up door drawing layouts online and utilise the info there too.
