Renewing a drive that my neighbour crosses

I have a drive that is shown on my deeds as part of my property. My neighbour crosses my drive to get to his house. I want to replace the drive. Does my neighbour have any say over what I do? I have asked him for a contribution to the cost of part of the drive and he has refused. I am therefore going to foot the bill myself but he is trying to determine what I do to my drive. Is he able to do this?

It’s your land I don’t exactly know what the law states with shared access but with minimal disruption and both benefitting from a new drive you would think he would be more than happy
Problem being with this is if it is in your boundaries and the law is on your side is your neighbour going to create loads of hassle for the contractors as we’ve had that problem in the past even though the neighbours do benefit

No you need the deeds to show it’s your drive and that will determine the boundaries. If this is your land he has no say whatsoever but you could inform him that you are having the work done and he won’t be able to access for a couple of days until the work is completed

Tell your neighbour to do one. Your money your choice if he wants to have a opinion then tell him to cough up or shut up

You need to thoroughly go through your deeds, it’s should be on there. A shared driveway, even if owned by 1 house both houses legally have access to it. If you own the driveway, then crack on do what you want as your neighbour won’t have a leg to stand on. If you both own it, if your paying then get it written down in agreement with your neighbour. If they own the drive, unfortunately you don’t have a leg to stand on. I would try and organise something mutually beneficial between you and your neighbour, before you get a contractor in. I would also try and get something in writing from your neighbour, incase it gets messy.
