How to prevent frozen pipes ins static caravan

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

We have a static caravan which our 2 sons are going to stay in over Winter. It only has gas heated water, no heating. If we put in an electric heater, will this be enough to prevent the water pipes from freezing?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I don’t expect your sons will be living in the caravan at temperatures below 0 degrees so I don’t think there is any chance of burst pipes inside the caravan. Where you might have a problem is outside where there is any exposed pipe work which should be fully insulate and lagged. Other pipes should be buried at least 600mm (two feet) underground. At this depth, the soil acts as a natural insulator and prevents them freezing.
