Damp and condensations issues in 1960's bungalow

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.02 PM

I have damp and mould issues in most rooms of my bungalow. We had an envirovent unit fitted years ago but has not solved the issue at all. I find myself bleaching the walls, ceilings and windows regularly. We have double glazed windows and run a dehumidifyer during the day. I am reluntant to install and more ventilatiion units as clearly this was a waste of money that I now cannot switch off as it was installed to a plug socket directly. The bungalow is mainly rendered on the outside and has a good amount of insulation in the loft. I am really up for any useful advice on this one please.

First , buy a digital thermal hygrometer off the Internet for about £18.00, this will tell you what is going on in the property . You need 65%RH for mould to form . Poor air exchange is the actual cause of mould . You can exchange air by simply opening a window on opposite sides of the building simultaneously for 20 minutes then shut . Bleach does not kill mould ; distilled white vinegar does also Ronseal 3in1 mould killer .
