What trade to convert flat window into a bay window with patio doors
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.43 PM
We have a normal flat window (1800mm wide) in our dining room. We can't afford and don't have the garden space for a full extension or conservatory, but wondered if we could convert the existing window into a bay, and put French or sliding doors into the middle of the bay. This would give more room to fit a bigger table in. We don't want to make the bay any wider than the existing 1800mm window if that's relevant. Do we need an architect, and is a job for a builder or a window installer company?

You won't need an architect but will need a surveyor to assess and maybe the council to oversee the project, and it would be a builder you would be looking for, in the removal of the walls and the extra brickwork.

All you need is a experienced window fitter.

I'd start with a window fitter, you might need a builder as well and it's worth checking with planning before you do anything
