My stupid boiler and it’s pressure.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.43 PM

Hello I know this has been asked a few times now but I require the answer to a couple of questions if that is alright. I have come to a conclusion that there may be a leak in my radiator system simply because since I have had my new boiler fitted, I am unable to locate the reason why the pressure is dropping. I have had numerous leaky valves changed yet the pressure doesn’t remain. Can someone answer the following questions; 1. Is there any particular technology/item which means I don’t need to rip up all of my floorboards and the leak found and actioned? 2. Is there actually a way to find out whether the valves may have a small leak in them without touching and checking for dampness? 3. I have heard of leak detectors, where do I locate them? What’s their charge? I have had my boiler serviced and the person said no leaks were found in the boiler. No leak is apparent on the copper pipe going outside either. Thank you!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You could have a leak under the floor on the heating system. Check all radiators for leaks and check PRV to boiler. If you are unable to find any leaks you could have a faulty pressure vessel or pressure sensor

First vent rads boiler off system cold. Then vent rads downstairs first make sure all air from rads then up stairs keeping eye on pressure when your sure no air turn on call for heat turn boiler temp on boiler to max watch pressure gauge if it raises quickly to 3 bar vessel fault or pipe to vessel blocked

As you said boiler is quite new. You need to pressure test the system without boiler included, this will tell you if old part of heating system is to blame, then try to locate leak, if system is tight then boiler is to blame , dodgy vessel or faulty boiler.
