is it okay to have a plasterboard ceiling finish in a Kitchen?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.43 PM
I've got a timber joist ceiling in a kitchen which I have finished off with 2 layers of gypsum Fireline board for fire rating and then it will then be painted. Gypsum states that their plasterboards should not be used in rooms which have a certain temperature but not sure if this will be applicable to Kitchens. Can gypsum plasterboards be used in Kitchens?

Yes, you can use plasterboard in the kitchen without fear, here in UK almost all kitchen ceilings are made of plasterboard.

It's ok as long as you stagger the joints between the two layers of plaster boards, And I personally would skim with plaster for better finish
