Building a pizza oven on a patio
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
I have been given a load of Pavers and want to build a pizza oven with them. It will be approcimately 1m x 85cm and 1m high. There will then be a concrete slab and the pizza oven (made from verimiculite, sand and cement) on top so probably about a 150kg load at a guess. Question is this will a single skin wall laid directly on the pation be enough to be stable? Or does it need some sort of foundation? Patio is laid on a 3 inch concrete base. Thanks in advance.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I think it would need some kind of foundation or maybe a double skin brick wall anything over a metre should be double brick due to building regulations. Especially with the weights I would recommend not putting it on a single skin hope this helps

Always start with a good foundation and build with 9inch brickwork for stability

Build the oven inside wall with
fire brick or kiln bricks, then smarten up the outside with bricks of your choice making sure to fill all gaps inside with heat resistant sealer used on the flues of chimneys for example. Good cooking , enjoy.
