Fitting a shower enclosure
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.25 PM
Hello, I want to fit a new shower enclosure in my bathroom. The enclosure I want to buy has a lower lip on the shower tray than the present shower but I am concerned that the plumbing in my bathroom may cause problems allowing water to drain away with a shower with a lower tray. How can I find this out before buying the shower enclosure? Thank you

Hi. Sewage installations have to be changed almost every time, so don't worry. I always make everything new, I am 100% sure that nothing will leak.

I am not sure if you only changing shower enclosure or the tray too!!
Doesn’t matter how shallow shower trays are as they have a fall itself as long as the shower tray is fitted level you will be fine. BUT it sounds like you might need to rise the tray slightly to help with the water flow!
Best of luck
Leo.

Hi. Most of the older shower trays are about 95mm deep but the newer ones are about 45mm. It is more about where the waste is positioned. As long as the shower trap is at the same height you should not have a problem.

If the shower tray is fitted level in both directions and you seal the waste outlet properly, you shouldn’t have a problem.
