Water comes on as scheduled (mon and evening) but in the evening the rads get hot - pls help

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

so... whilst no rads are currently needed\heated\used at the moment (not so cold currently) the water does comes on (as planned - 07:45 to 08:30) in the morning and works as planned. However when the water comes on in the late afternoon\evening (17:15 to 18:00) it also heats up the rads.... BTW - We had a new boiler installed on June 30th (only because of 20 yr old kitchen revamp) - boiler man did not complete all wire work (hive control etc) as needed, electrician came and completed the work (paid for by the boiler man). Did not know of\was not aware of this problem during the summer Water turns on ok via controls - heating turns on ok separately

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I think balancing the system will help to solve the problem.

It could possibly be an issue with your diverter valve or diverter valve head

The system is controlled via two ways. One for the water heat up and second for heating. Obviously the heating control has to be reset to work when you require heat. If this is not possible and it still happens the wiring of the timer control is wrong.

Hi there. Sounds like you just need to reschedule the times you want the heating to come on and off on your programmer. It sounds like there’s no real issue as your hot water comes on as scheduled (07.45-08.30) without the rads heating up. The issue sounds like it occurs when the next hot water schedule activates (17.15-18.00)... this implies that the heating has been programmed to come on at the same time as the hot water.... that’s what I make of it anyway... I might be wrong. So in short, Check your heating and hot water schedules! I hope this helps 🙂
