Plastering & Rendering

Rendering over wooden lintel

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.43 PM

I've found some wooden lintels and the odd other bit of structural timber, after I removed a load of blown plaster around a window. Up until now I've been just cement rendering the patches followed by drywall. Will cement render stick to the timber, or do I need to use scrim to allow for expansion or something?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You are better off either plasterboarding over the lintel, or using expomet, which is a steel mesh you tack to the timber to allow the plaster to grip
