hi this is a good 1 I think ex plumber its got me baffled so I live in a late 70s build bungalow which an old lady lived in before us so needed some upgrading moved stud wall and reposition it due to existing plaster flaking and loose we dot and dabs plasterboard on walls and overboard ceiling .s problem is moisture found under 2 sideboards with discoloration on vinyl flooring with a furry felt backing which is laid over a bitumen floor some signs of black mold in 1 corner which was due for plastic bags stuffed down the side of the draws I removed them pulled the floor back and skirting .check that no plaster touching floor cleaned area out chopped some of the floors back seems to have worked. another side of the room opposite corner similar problem no bags this time seems to be on the bottom and rear of the unit. removed skirting again and checked removed plaster and floor. but now signs also on bottom of mattress and bed no signs of moisture on floor of discoloration on floor. this is only happening in this room only and along this side. which is at least 34 inches above ground lvl. so any help advice would help was thinking of taking bitumen floor up and replace with moisture-resistant p5 chipboard floor .thanks in advance rob with regards to the wise man earlier so installing an air brick (think it used to be called a black hole had baffles by stadium ) should improve the problem. consured as will be buying all new units bed ect and dont really wot to rid it all out again latter thanks again rob Update bought a monitor to see the moisture levels in the rooms and I'd say wet between 40% to 70% in most rooms thought I'd let u all know and thanks for the advice .

It would appear that all your issues are caused by condensation and poor air exchange. Black mould can only grow from atmospheric moisture . The dampness under vinyl and behind stud walls is the same . Correct the air exchange and all will be well . First purchase a digital thermal hygrometer off the Internet for about £18.00 ; this will tell you everything about the air quality , you’re aiming for 55-61% RH. Do not install a passive air vent , that will make it worse, particularly in winter .

Sounds like air circulation problem. I would suggest installing something like a Remcon unit to force air circulation and will control humidity.

All of the above are more or less correct. We have been installing PIV systems for over 35 years and had tremendous results over those years. A PIV is your CURE for all of the ills you describe. In fact your case reads like a text book example! BY the way, we do travel far ands wide to install these wonderful machines for less than you’d think tell us where you are by reaching out on our website and let us know where in the country you are. We just might be able to help…!
