Help.. Shower won't work and I need advice on putting in bath taps with shower attachment

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Thanks for your responses and help! My Salamander pump has voltage through it but won't work. If the (fixed head mixer) shower is turned on there is no sound and the pump heats up. The shower runs cold from the tank in the loft but when the knob is turned to full hot there is no water at all. Wht do you think is wrong? I've been told that there needs to be a flow of water to get the pump started so it may not be a dead pump.. If I get a mixer bath tap (I'm replacing taps anyway) with a shower attachment will that test whether the pump or the valve is at fault and whether there is blockage in pipes (as shower attachment will just need the pump to work!)? Can I just have the mixer tap fitted in the area where the taps are now without recourse to the shower inlets already in the wall behind the exposed valve? Is there anything complicated I should know about ? Usually the pump only starts on flow of water from shower not from bath taps so is there a need for attachments or more pipes to be connected for the mixer tap? (I'm looking for the fastest and cheapest solution right now) V grateful - people in the house very unhappy tht the shower doesn't work :-( Martine

Hi, Sounds like an air lock on the hot water side. There should not be a problem at all with fitting a bath shower mixer. Thanks Reg

Your pump has a magnetic flow valve on both hot and cold water outlets using a small magnet place it beside the flow valve either on the hot or cold side, this will make the pump run and hopefully push out the air lock remember to make sure your shower is turned on fully

Are the filters clean in the pump . Also check if the head of water is right for the pump . If it is not fit a negative head switch to pump outlets
