How to remove plastic bath panel!
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
Hi, I can’t seem to get access to under my bath via the acrylic panel, which looks like it’s been sealed on (with sealant). Is the only option to break the panel / cut the sealant with a Stanley knife type thing? And if so, does this render the bath unusable until the panel is properly replaced? I read something that suggested that cutting the sealant to get the panel off will make the bath non-watertight. Thanks!

Carefully cut the silicone along the joint between the bath and panel.
there may be silicone at each end between the bath panel and wall covering and sometimes along the floor joint as well which will need cutting. There may be screw fixings along the lower edge of the panel as well. These are sometimes covered with plastic caps which can be flicked off with a small flat screwdriver to uncover the screw head. Or a chrome dome which unscrewe,s from a thread in the screw underneath the dome head.
Lever the panel gently from the bottom towards you with a paint scraper. It could be trapped by the floor covering and may need flexing over this.
Some fly off others can be a bit challenging. Best of luck

The answer is as detailed but I would add that the bath is 100% usable without the panel so if the panel is damaged when removing then you can still use it

Carefully cut the silicone completely if does not work you must need to break it to get access under bath tube so that affected area dries faster to repaired
