Can you re-tile over water damaged boards?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
Taken bottom layer of tiles off when changing my cracked shower tray. Looks like water damage on the boards but not too severe. Do I need to take all tiles off to inspect and replace board if necessary or just leave existing boards to dry out and then re-tile over them? Thanks

If you have found any damp spots behind tiles it would definitely be a good idea to inspect the boards further. Not doing this could lead to further problems with tiles becoming loose and potentially falling off.
Leave the tiles off and wait for the boards to dry out, if the damp patches don’t dry out then inspect further for potential leaks etc. Good luck hope you get it sorted.

Depends from the age of the bath.If that was a leak from how long is that leak. Some tips if the bath is old the best solution is to be replaced all tiles with access of water and for the floor is good to be covered with water resistant insulation that will increase the life of the bath and then tiles. In the corners of the shower tray tray have to be insulated properly. Insulation kits for bath.
