Skip on the driveway and water coming out

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.24 PM

A skip is placed on my driveway and have noticed water slowly coming out through the paving (it's not water in the skip)- what are the possible causes ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The ground underneath is most likely saturated, with poor drainage and withholding water. The weight of the skip could be putting downward pressure on the saturated ground as the skip is filled , is a possible answer. Alternatively it is possible that a water main has been ruptured with the weight of the skip, which should be placed on boards to dispand the weight. If the latter is more likely, you should call water board who will come and inspect for you then provide a quote for renewal /repair of main. This should be pointed out to the builder, who should have relevent insurance in place to cover this .

Most likely to be saturated ground, your driveway probably doesn’t have drainage for this water to go away and with pressure of the weight of the skip is causing this water to come up. Very unlikely to be your water supply.
