Defect marks (old oil paint, crack) extensively on old door frame

Hi Everyone, We have an old door frame where it covers with defect marks extensively.(Please see the photos from here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/UBHiUN3vrJUTy96v8). What can do to make it looks better? We can oil paint it, but it won't cover bumps, and cracks, and dripping paint. Many thanks in advance

Hi Neil, I can't see the photo as the link isn't working! But from what you have described it sounds like it needs some TLC, I would suggest stripping the frame back and working from scratch, fill/caulk and prime and redecorate as necessary. Kind regards Matt

Hi Neil, best is to strip the frame from all the old paint to expose the wood. Sand down all the bumps and use a 2 part wood filler for all the cracks, be mindful as this goes off very quickly. Sand it all down again to get a nice smooth finish on the wood. Use a undercoat to prime the frame and sand it very lightly, it will help for paint runs and give a very good finish to the top coat.
Hope this helps.
