Turning off cold water supply to shower
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.40 PM
I'm trying to turn off the water supply to the shower. I've managed to turn off all water supply throughout the house but the cold water in the shower keeps running. There are a lot of valves and I'm not sure which does what. I've closed one in the meter box outside, under the bathroom sink, under the kitchen sink, at the back of the shower wall, two in the attic coming out of the cold water tank, one upstairs coming out of the hot water tank. I'm not sure what else to do...

It must be a combined hot and cold shower ( a thermostatic) you will need to turn the hot and cold feed to the shower, they maybe behind the bath panel or they will be fed from the water tank in the roof and the hot water cylinder. To isolate the hot supply turn the 22mm red round handled gate valve feeding the cold water to the bottom of the cylinder and turn a similar valve in the airing cupboard where the pipe continues into the floor boards, note: be careful these valves can easily break in the closed position
Good luck

Depending on current shower type.
Whether the shower is tank fed?
Electrical instantaneous mains water feed?
Power shower ?
Hope this helps
