Can I chase a gas pipe into a wall without disconnecting at the meter?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.42 PM
A gas pipe feeding the oven was disconnected/capped off (by a gas engineer) - but it wasn't disconnected at the meter (so there can be heating). Can I chase this pipe into the wall by using a hammer and a cold chisel or multi-tool, or would that be unsafe? Photos attached. Thank you. https://ibb.co/JHzFcqM https://ibb.co/3pxrXXP https://ibb.co/wCKfmvg

no, you can not please if you are not gas safe don't touch gas.
I would suggest you contact a Gas Safe engineer who would be able to chase the pipe back to the branch and remove the dead leg (old cooker pipe) but keep gas to your boiler.
