Plumbing

New radiator too heavy, new build property, solution/advice sought - thanks

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.42 PM

A small radiator was removed from our hallway to make way for a built-in cupboard next to it. The pipework is all still there, poking out of the wall. We would like to replace the old radiator with a slimline, tall radiator, however we have been told by a plumber who serviced our boiler this week that it would be too heavy. How (is it possible?) can we achieve the structural support so that we can have the radiator we would like and what further trades if any would we need to find and hire? NB: New build Charles Church (Persimmon). Also, just to add, this is the radiator: https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/urban-1600mm-chrome-single-panel-vertical-radiator-various-widths Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. You are able to purchase a tall radiator with support legs as part of its design. This will help with the weight of the radiator. If your plumber is correct about the structural integrity. I hope this helps answer your question
