Fitting new electric heating to older style circuit
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
Hi, I am looking to upgrade my 1970s "dumb" electric heater panels to new ones with independent thermostats. Is it possible to bypass and remove the existing room thermostats and power the new heaters from the old outlets within the room?

Yes, this wouldn’t be a problem for an electrician.

I would suggest contacting your local electrician who specialises in electric heating modules who should be able to advise you accordingly

Simple enough for a qualified electrician. Just contact a local electrician to take a look

You need to check your new heaters elec load and ensure cable is of a suitable size etc. Thermostats can be by passed ie linked out and blank plate fitted. I strongly recommend you employ a qualified electrician to undertake this work.
