ridge tile repair

Ridge tiles need replacing in several places. Is scaffolding essential for this job? Would like to minimise the cost !!!
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depending on the roof, how difficult it is to negate, how far up it is and where they are on the roof, however I will say as far as the law is concerned and health and safety executive scaffolding is required on almost every roof related activity.
The cost of human life & fines for the criminals involved in risking human life, trying to save a few hundred pounds outweighs the cost of scaffolding every time.
It’s also down to the contractor of what access is necessary, to comply with the health and safety laws, not down to the homeowner etc.
Anybody who would tell me what access I need/tell me they aren’t prepared to pay for basic health and safety’s to comply with the law wouldn’t get my respect, and we wouldn’t do business with them as they’re demonstrating a complete disrespect to the people fixing their roof trying to earn a living, you don’t sign up to unnecessary risks and falling to their death.
I think you open yourself up to dodgy traders who don’t understand basic health and safety.

Hi.
Everything that BT Roofing Services LTD have stated, in their reply, is the only answer to this question worth reading.
For far too long, homeowners ,who require roof repairs, seem to be more interested in getting the work done on 'the cheap' without any concern of any safety procedures that may, or may not, be carried out by the roofing company involved.
The law has now changed...and to explain briefly....where,in the past, any roofing company, working in an unsafe manner, would be heavily fined....this now applies to the customer too.

Adrian

As stated above it does depend on the accessibility to the roof.
