is it possible reduce the cabinet size above the fridge cavity ?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
I am trying to get a new fridge installed and the new ones don't fit the cavity that exists currently . I need to at least increase the height of the cavity by 10 cm . There are 2 cabinets above the fridge currently with custom doors. Is there a way we can reduce the height of the cabinet without having to re do everything ? Is it possible to match and get new doors matching existing colors with reduced sizes etc ?

It's possible to reduce the cabinet dimensions and maybe the top door and then route the top edge of one of doors to accommodate the extra height of the fridge

This is possible, however, it would entail removing the existing cabinets to trim the carcase to size. Once this has been completed the door can also be trimmed and adjusted to fit.

You might be able to get new doors but you could cut down the tops off the doors and re strip with colour edging plus cutting down the units shouldn’t be a problem either I hope this helps.

The answer to reducing this cabinet size is correct you can reduce the size, although it would be a screw and glue answer.
The cabinet door depends on the style of the door. If its a wood door with decorative routings then depending on the style you could cut the door and remove a middle section which may not be noticeable when glueing the top and bottom together this would keep the style and make the door smaller in height, so with out re-ordering a new door, you may get away with it.
