Can a builder get away with building an extension a lot smaller than it states on the plan?
Anonymous user 13/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
We are in the process of an extension. I'm not sure why but we decided to measure it and found that it is 6cms smaller on the inside on both the dimensions across the room. Is this acceptable or can we make them get it right? Is there a tolerance that they work to? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,
as a rule the tolerance is 10mm,you best ask your builder why it is so far out,and have a word with the building inspector to see if he can see the reason hope this is of some help.

Hi
It is to far out to be a measure error. Like greengate ask your builder, it could be theres a drain running parallel with the foundations so they had to keep away from that. The building inspector will be able to back up the builder if this is the case.
