Plastering & Rendering

Do I have the house rendered before fitting a door canopy or after the rendering has been completed?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

I want two door canopies fitted. One over the side door;the other one over the front door. The front door already has a canopy ( concrete one) which was fitted when house was built but I want to add height to it also build over my front lounge window. I just need to know which do I do first: the rendering or the canopies? Thank you.

Hi there, Jason from JB building services here I would recommend having any structural work done first before thinking of rendering the house. The reason I say this is that firstly you won’t damage any of the render when your drilling into the house to fix your stud work securely. Second of all when you render you have to bead the area you ant to render if you now have a canopy it may well have lead flashing in which case you will need to place beads around the canopy the render the wall. I hope this has helped you. kind regards Jason.
