How do i access the inlet valve on a toilet like this?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

The flush on my toilet appears to be just... very broken. It takes about 30 minutes to refill, and everything inside looks very old and blue. I've replaced the flush and refill mechanism on another toilet previously which was simple. However, in this new house I can't seem work out how. Unlike previously, this toilet is fully sealed in. The cistern goes right to the wall, then to the floor, with no access to the pipes - see image in the link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/S8dDiDzJSboZBtCh7 I suspect I might have to remove some of the tiles, but before I do that I wanted to check if anyone here has seen similar previously and has advice/suggestions/warnings etc.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If its not flushing the internal flushing valve inside the top cistern will need replacing. Remove the lid first by lifting it up and disconnect the cable from the push button mechanism or it might be a screw in one. Once inside se if its a serviceable one in which case it screws off and can be replaced, if not you will need to free the basin and pulling away from the wall, to disconnect the water feed and securing nuts to reach the flushing valve ....

Cut the silicone away at the bottom of the toilet also any around the sides, take any screws out fixing toilet to the wall and floor. This will be plumbed in with a flexible hose and you should be able to pull away from the wall to isolate.

Agree with Sib Plumbing as you do that take a chance to fit a fixing kit on the floor to hold the toilet. This type of toilet should be fixed with at least 2 floor brackets. Silicone only won't be safe enough. Good Luck Tiziano @ MA4 Plumbers

Good afternoon, I would advise you to call qualified plumber to check ,because in some cases you can change the system without damaging the tile. For example, through the push button.
