Bricklaying & Repointing

block strength/type for sub structure

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.24 PM

My engineer's drawings notes state I need 7.3N blocks for the substructure and also a note that says no lightweight/thermal blocks below ground. The only 7.3Ns I can see to buy are called Ultra lightweight but then in the specification notes it actually says 7N. Am I better to just use 7N solid dense blocks?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Essentially you must use dense 7n blocks underground. However...thermalite do make a trench block which is made from similar composite to thermalite 3.5n blocks. These are deemed to satisfy regs for domestic buildings. For high rise i doubt if they would be suitable. Theres always exceptions to any rule !
