Resin bound gravel drive - solutions - air brick blocked
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.24 PM
I am looking to purchase a property and have had a survey carried out. The surveyor has advised that the resin bound gravel driveway installed is partially blocking the air bricks and could be a potential cause of dampness at low level on walls. Is there a way to correct this without ripping up the entire drive?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the resin is partly blocking the airbrick, then it’s been laid too high or too near the damp course. You need 150mm or two bricks depth from DPC to driveway level You need to dig out a trench all the way along your house and fit linear drainage or just leave the trench open.
If you fit linear drainage (Google this)
Then you need to seal the gaps into the drive otherwise it’s useless, also it has to be fitted at its lowest point ideally into a live drain. They can actually be fitted level, the water will naturally find its way out.
Good luck
