Thermal lining paper why does emulsion build up
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.24 PM
On joins it seems like the emulsion builds up,if I paper plastered walls you don’t see any joins .There is no sign of cracking like others have said or joins lifting but I can only think that when I emulsion the emulsion actives glue then seeps under and then re sticks.I’m thinking of fine surface filler over the joins then emulsion .Strange because I purposely seel the underneath thermal surface ,I always make sure the sides of the paper are covered with glue. This question does not seem to have been answered

I have had this problem on a radiator bearing wall in the past after trying a few different methods I found the best result was to use a smooth decorators caulk that was slightly thinned with water to a a almost wallpaper paste like consistency. Apply With a large smoothing knife or scraper and allow to dry. A fine grade sand to blend in and my problem was resolved. Also worth remembering room temperature can have dramatic effects when applying a thinner visc paint may also help

Paint buiup is due to uneven substrate which can cause edge curl of the paper which the paint collects on... can be sorted with a wee mix of hard fill

If the joints are butted up perfectly yOu shouldn't get a build up of paint but if the joUnts split use a ready mixed overlap paste and roll the joints after pasting with a seam roller.

lining paper should be under the wallpaper at the joints
