Tried to repair wall but the paint colour is not matching the rest of the wall where the repairs are

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.40 PM

Hello... I am hoping someone can help me. There were two patches of paint in one of my rooms where the paint was flaking away from the plaster. I picked off all of the loose paint and then sanded it down. Once it had been smoothed off I re applied the paint to that section of the wall but now the paint has dried I can clearly see the two round patches where I flaked the paint off. I am assuming this was because I didn't prime/use filler over that patches on the plaster? If I keep adding layers of paint would the colour eventually match the rest of the wall and if not what should I do to rectify it? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

At the moment the paint will be absorbed by the bare patch and that will give it a different sheen level when dry to the rest of the wall. More coats may help this. But a much better solution is a thin application of filler then a light sand to blend and level . The perfect filler for this is Toupret fine surface filler. I wonder why it flaked?

Unfortunately my answer is to paint the all wall corner to corner.

It may be you are seeing the flat texture of the filler compared to the rougher texture where the rest f the wall was painted with a roller. If thats the case, try a couple more coats of paint but use a mini roller to build it up

Sanded down smooth give it to court and if that don’t work use PVA bond and put that on David at 24 hours and repaint it again
