Flexi Pipes - help!

Hi there, plastic pipe has been around for a very long time….it’s improved massively and as long as it’s been installed correctly should last a very long time. I put some in my old house which lasted 10 years before moving and never had an issue. The flexi hose/tap connectors can sometimes split or work lose on the very rare occasion but the likelihood would be slim to none… Try not to think about it to much and enjoy your bathroom.

Hi, flexi pipes will eventually fail. I am not a fan of them myself and wouldn’t use them. They can last even as long as 15 years, however when they fail they can gush out water and this inevitably causes lots of unnecessary damage to the property. Good solid pipe work may take a longer but it is not likely to fail so drastically, and if it does fail it will fail by way of a small drip at a connection which is normally discovered by a stain on the ceiling. In my opinion nothing beats copper, and a friend of mine who used to love the flexi stuff, now agrees with me as he has seen it fail all to often due to the changes in temperature which makes the flexi pipe and fittings unstable. Hi Harriet_39 Don't stress enjoy your new bathroom. Most tradesman in UK use flexi tap connectors to connect copper pipes to bath, kitchen sink and basin/vanity. Flexi pipes are safe and have good life. Just for clarification shower needs connection from copper pipe so he/she would have not used flexi pipe over there. I hope this helps. Good Luck

Who told you they last only 5 years.not something I use day to day .but they should be fine and do not worry about them.

Hi There nothing wrong in using flexible tap tails as longer as good practice is being followed when installing them. The only tile they will break down and fail is when they are installed incorrectly e.g if the tails are twisted and under stress. I hope that helps.
