Can I remove tiles in my kitchen on plasterboard?

I am wanting to remove tiles in my kitchen some are on plasterboard, this will be replaced with splashback. Will I need to add new plasterboard before adding the splashback? Thinking of doing myself as have been quoted mad money.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It depends what type of splashback you want to fit. Splashback can be made from glass, mirror, plexiglass, mdf or different materials. For plexiglass for example you need a clean and straight surface becouse it will copy your wall shape on the other hand if you fit a mdf with a decent thickness you can do only small repair becouse it will be covered.

Depends how clean they lift from the plasterboard, most likely you will have to replace the plasterboard or at least some areas

I would remove tiles and plaster board. Put new plaster board make sure its same thickness make sure to seal it. Adrian Chant. Ac Tiling
